'29 bitser racer...

Post by barry.swanson »

I've been slowly piecing together a vintage racer from a ute -load of parts which included 4 frames in varying stages of degradation, I bought about 4 years ago...as you can see from the photo, nothing has been easy but I'm enjoying the challenge of trying to resurect a bike from discarded bits.
Also, as there's a bit of choping and modification involved in a hotrod, I don't have the same feelings of guilt I would if I had started with a complete bike.
The engine had sat for years, was probably a piston seizure that lead to its demise, and the rings have since rusted themselves to the barrel which will need to be relined.

...this is an old quadrant and the cardboard templates of it, used to shape the steel plate to build a new one. Its been welded up but no plating has been done yet.

...no they aren't common here Chris, it wasn't complete when I got it just a body without magnet and internals, so I didn't pay a lot for it...sometimes you get lucky!
