Carburretor jetting with Air filter

Post by Keith.owen »

Hi,
Does anyone know what jet sizes would be fitted to an Amal Monoblock / Concentric if fitting an air filter (offset pancake type).

Lacknig specific jet sizes, what would be the likely precentage reduction in size?

The machine is a 1950 VH.

My 51 has a 626 concentric fitted With a 3.5 slide, 200 main jet and 106 needle jet with the needle on the middle setting. This works fine but if you are experimenting aim for a rich settings at first. I think my Slide was at first a 2.5 and then I filed it away until it worked.

Hi Steve,
That sounds pretty much like the main jet size that I currently have.

The bike's in pieces at the moment - under going a complete rebuild. I'm going to make a few mods that won't affect it in as much as that they can be easily undone, but, I think make sense such as fitting a cartridge oil filter, air filter on carb etc.

I'm interested to know of other people's experiences.
