Do you have another mag that you could borrow/fit? I would rule out the mag questions.

If you have a spare slide with a greater cutaway, try that. Modern fuels seem to be requiring changes from standard carburation and richness of mixture at small throttle openings appears to be one of the problems, to me at least.

So, I have concluded the investigate by returning to the scene of the crime - I readjusted the valve lifter - hesitation gone. Just need to put the carburation back to where it was. Thanks to all that tried to help.

So, for the future time when I fall into this hole (!), I guess it was too tight?

Yeah - a bit too close to the exhaust tappet. Must have been just hitting it at speed. Readjusted so that it lifts the exhaust valve just before the control level hits the handlebars and all is golden.
