Hi, all.

Can you use semi-liquid grease in a GB gearbox and if you do can you use the level plug and drain plug?

I can't see why not, although the level plug is rather small so there is likely to be a delay between the fluid reaching that level and it starting to dribble out. I would use EP90 and see little if any advantage to using semi-fluid grease

Grease is less likely to leak from the speedo drive

I had a 1957 NH where the previous owner had filled the GB box with grease, just the same as he had done on his earlier Ariels. It worked perfectly well.

I run semi fluid grease in both of my bikes with GB boxes, precisely because I was sick of oil leaking out of the Speedo drive. VH has done thousands of miles like that so works for me. I don’t use the level plug, I just syringe it in and occasionally squirt some oil from the can in through the filler plug.

How much semi fluid grease does it take please.
Thanks Malcolm.
