1950 VH500 Toolbox brackets

Hi, I am looking at fitting the toolbox and have offered it up to the frame as shown in the attached photos.

The brackets appear to be the correct ones according to Draganfly, but I can't see what the offset part of the bracket (as circled in the photo) is there for? The bike came in bits so I have no record photos. If anybody could shed some light on this it would be very much appreciated.

It looks to me that the holes in the top of your toolbox are in the wrong place - they should be closer to the lid.

The picture is a Sq4 but I think it's the same for a single.

Mines as the one above.51 with orig Matching numbers (if that means much) it's a runner and I've had it for ages. RIGID frame. Maybe the Anstey framed bikes are a different toolbox. Nev

Here's a better view of the brackets on my '49 rigid single which might help with placing your holes.

There should also be a reinforcing plate (6565-35) between the two top bolts inside the toolbox - not listed by Draganfly but easy enough to fabricate.

The (postwar) Anstey toolbox is held on by a single large bracket bolted through the middle of the top. Picture is from a '51 single.
