'39 Sq4 exhaust conundrum
Re: '39 Sq4 exhaust conundrum
Interesting that the fins appear to be cut off randomly, as opposed to a clear left and right...

Re: '39 Sq4 exhaust conundrum
These are the original parts from my 1939 SQ4 (top) and my 1946 SQ4 (bottom). The fin removal of 39 clamps appears to be identical for left and right exhaust which would tie in with the 39 parts book only listing one part number (6061-33).Most of the exhaust clamps back then were steel bands NO fins at all.. Nev
The 39 parts book lists 3 exhaust clamps:
- 6061-33 -> Finned clamp - head to downpipe;
- 6064-29 -> Unfinned clamp - downpipe to silencer;
- 6066-33 -> Unfinned clamp - centre joint for siamese pipes.
- 6066-33 -> Unfinned clamp - head to downpipe;
- 6064-29 -> Unfinned clamp - downpipe to silencer.

The cast steel ones are better than aluminium. The top LH one looks correct. Nev
