Wanted front Altette horn bracket (6155-35)

Having successfully got myself some high level pipes for my twinport 350 I need to move the horn onto the front engine plates. I am therfore in need of a bracket/platform (6155-35). Doesn't need to be pristine - useable is fine.

Peter, don't forget the bracket on the horn itself is different, it's right-angled not flat. Dave

Dave, I think the current bracket will be OK - just need to rotate the horn...

This is the bit I am after...

Horn up front only works with a girder, but I guess you know that ?

Vincent, Thanks for the warning. No I didn't know that however this is for a girder machine.

As a matter of interest where should the horn be fitted to a postwar twinport with high level pipes and tele forks?

Hello Pete,
Well....I am not sure!
I suppose it is fixed in the hole next to the saddle spring lug, the one for the rear mudguard bracket.
A very clever spot! because I never hear my own horn when it's up front  :?
At the nearside I think one should use a 'flat' horn bracket with a spacer behind.
It's my guess that the angled horn brackets in general ended up fitted to the saddle spring lug after Ariels lost the girders in the postwar tele rage.
But... hanging a Altette's vibrating dead weight swinging from the saddle spring lug can cause it fracturing.
I aired this before on here......
Makes for an interesting ride when that happens on the move.
Anyway, a girder moves in a different 'plane' compared to a tele, a tele moves towards the front frame tube when encountering a pot hole.
a girder moves more straight up and down. ehhhhh: as clear as mud but it covers the ground (Harry Belafonte ! :D )

Oh, did not look yet for those shield blanks !

I had the W/NG one break the bracket and hang on the wiring and stop the front wheel from centering when it got between the mudguard and the front down tube .How i didn't come one big gutser I will never know. Nev

If you look at the 1948 Twins leaflet on the Club website it shows a left hand side view of the KG, with downswept pipes. The horn appears to have the right angle bracket and be fitted to one of the front engine plate studs.

Mounting the horn at the front and having it forward facing means it is likely to vibrate at certain engine revs and that causes the bracket to crack prematurely, usually through one of the four smaller holes. It's caused by a harmonic not bad engine balance. A suitably located block of hard rubber will damp it. Nev
