Just one thing - they are not 1/4 x 1/4 rollers (as I found out when sorting my 1928 clutch). They are 1/4 x I think...15/64 (definitely an odd number).

Tony, you are correct 1/4 x 15/64 so that the rollers don't bind in the 1/4" gap

On other Burman clutches AJS Matchless, Panther etc. the gap is made to fit the standard 1/4 rollers with sufficient clearance. Nev

Nev, I am surprised if what you say is correct as it is standard on all clutches that I am familiar with including BSA and Triumph clutches to use the 15/64 rollers including the Ariel 2 strokes.

Roger IF they make that size it must be for a reason so do what works, If you run out of end clearance you'll wear flats on the rollers. AJS/Matchless two in the last few years and my 1930 model G. Must finish that one day. Mechanicals are done. All part of the challenge. Nev

The rollers on my 1928 clutch have a small recess at one end that i know not the reason for.

Part of the manufacturing process, I would suggest. Some are slightly domed too. Nev
