Interchangeable parts

Post by SyeButts »

Hi all i hope you are all enjoying your holidays. This site has been so helpful so far and i wish to thank you all. I was wondering is there a list of interchangeable parts for our bikes...eg does the 500 top end fit the 350 bottom end what frame bits fit other models. any info on what bits if any would fit my 56 NH350. As my frame is a trials bike one (dont get too excited its not a factory frame but one that has been cut and drilled full of holes) i will be going down that route and the restoration will be on those lines. I am not too bothered about period right as long as it fits and my bike is reliable so i can enjoy the old girl on the green lanes here in Lincolnshire. Any help in any of this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all i hope that lot made any sense (i have had a few sloe gins)

That's quite a question. While a 500 top end will go on a 350 bottom end it's
not worth doing unless you change the 350 crank for a 500 as the strokes
are different. Pretty much any 1956 and later cycle parts will swap. The
primary drive changed 1955 to 1956 and while clutch parts will swap you
can get into all sorts of woe with the rest of the primary drive.

If you join the club you'll get access to the club's collection of parts lists
which will be invaluable. Otherwise there is useful information on
Draganfly's website.

As ever, pictures of your project will be interesting.

Hi Sye Butts, other parts to watch for fitability (is that a word? :D ) are the hubs.
the later full witdh hubs (FWH) on the (singles, dunno about twins) swingarm models have a longer mainshaft in the gearbox and the spindles are thicker in both hubs.
On the front this means a FWH has larger holes in the bottom legs and the rear also a larger gap where the spindle sits + the fork ends are closed.
in short; half witdh hubs (HWH) dont fit straight away in FWH fork ends.
Yes, just plough through the Draganfly website as it contains a lot of info and ofcourse folks on this forum also know a fair deal !
