Hi guys. I’m new to this forum and it’s my first question.
I own 2 Ariel in parts for now. I will begin soon the restoration of a 1954 SQ4 and of a side 600 valve.
The last one was given to me some 20 years ago and I recently tried to find the serial number of the frame without success. It is stored in a shed without light ans and I didn’t know where to look for with a flashlight. Someone can tell me where the sn is stamped on the frame ?
Thanks for your time. Alain

Re: Side valve 600 Ariel
Assuming we are not talking about swinging arm frames you'll find the frame number under the seat, right hand side as you sit on it, stamped on a frame lug above the oil tank.
You're looking for two letters then four numbers.
Swinging arm frames have the number on the left of the headstock, stamped near the top of the left down tube. Letters and numbers again, but up to four letters.

Thanks a lot. Alain
Re: Side valve 600 Ariel
I finally find the sn of the side valve. It is AB3031. Is there a place where I can confirm the year of this bike?

Frame number AB 3031 is from a 1950 VH despatched to Canada in June 1950, the engine number was MN 1698. Neither number is currently listed in the club's register. Would you let me have the engine number to add the register to go with the frame number to complete the record of your bike?
