'57 NH petrol tank knee pads.

Post by david.birkett »

The tank is being re sprayed and I'm wondering how I will get the knee pads back on without damaging the paint. Hints, tips and advice will be gratefully received.

Make sure the knee pads are 'warm'. (Assemble indoors at this time of year (or a heated workshop if you have that luxury).

Spray some silicone lubricant around the sufaces that need to slide over the fittings on the tank.

(I source my silicone sprays from the local upvc window merchants).

Thanks Julian, I'll take a brave pill and give it a go.
