Lucas DU142 8 in Headlamps

Post by KeliiJ94 »

Dragonfly mentions two types of headlights with different reflectors offered on Ariels from 1934/1936-1940. What is more correct for a 1940 model bike? Light output? Thoughts? I assume the one with the flat glass is much poorer light dispersion.

As Far as I know the flat glass is correct for 1940. Nev

All Ariels were fitted with flat glass lamps as far as I can tell. I think you will find that Draganfly offer 2 types, a very accurate but expensive one and a less accurate but cheaper one. The cheaper one has a semi dome glass that is not correct for either the flat or dome glass. Both are in short supply.

The projector type LED bulbs are useful for flat glass headlamps or dodgy reflectors. They don't need the glass or the reflector to form a reasonable beam.
cheers
