Ariel 1948(?) Identification

Post by JakeH »

Looking to indentify the bike below from the somewhat blurry photo we have, any help is much appreciated!

Initial suggestions have been a 1948 Ariel ohv Single 350cc or 500cc. Albeit with the wrong saddle fitted.

Interested to know what key features would define it as 1948 and what model name to look out for. In the hopes of finding one similar!

Tricky one , the primary, engine and clutch dome all appear to be Ariel, difficult to say about the rest. Assuming it is Ariel and if that is a side stand just under the clutch it will be 1948-52. Only the engine would tell us if it is a 350, 500 or 600 side valve, obviously not a twin or 4 so only leaves 5 models

Looks like a 350 OHV but there's nothing that identifies it as specifically a 48 model. The wheel rims might be alloy as they look a bit odd and the handlebars are raised. It's a standard rigid frame by the looks of it. The front wheel MAY be a 21" Nev
