What is my Dads Ariel?

Post by nrhoward62 »

Could anyone help me with identifying my Dads old bike. I was looking through some old photographs after he passed and came across this photograph which I believe is an Ariel but I don't know anymore than that.

I'm harboring ambitions to find it, but that could be a long fruitless search. As alternative I'm considering trying to see if i could locate and potentially purchase one assuming they are not in the Brough Superior category?

Any help would be much appreciated

It's no longer on the DVLA site. VN was a Whitby area registration.

30 -31 AJS 350 for sure. Dry sump saddletank. The 350 rear brake is easily identified. Quite a few sold. Light and peppy. Nev

Thanks guys your help has been brilliant. On another Forum someone suggested that the engine was an Aerial with a Panther Tank. Were guessing that he had the bike in the early 50's as by 1955 he had cars and his diaries make no reference to bikes . Thanks again

Definitely an AJS 350 motor. Oil pump in cover plate 2 port separate oil tank. 1929 at the earliest. 28 had flat tank and Pilgrim + hand pump in the tank. Nev
