Spotted on Ebay - Early 30's Model E

Post by JoshJ »

Spotted this on Ebay, is located in Australia. A quick search shows the frame and engine are from different years so not matching. Not sure about the rest of the bike.

I do not know the seller, just one i spotted on Ebay and thought others may be interested.

Thanks, added to the register. Bike is a 1932 VH despatched to Coventry with a 1930 model E engine despatched to Australasia. Not sure I am in complete accord with the vendor's description!

Does the engine/frame number match the records Rog?

As Roger says, engine and frame did not leave the factory together so this is another example of the interchangeability of Ariel parts between years.

Not sure i understand what 1932 VH dispatched to Coventry with a 1930 model E engine dispatched to Australasia means?

So it left the factory as a 1932 VH and was dispatched to Coventry. Was the 1930 engine added by a dealer, there is a record of it so guessing something "Official" occurred?

Apologies, just trying to get my head around it!

If someone here buys this, I am interested to swap the 1932-frame with a 1930-frame.
Best regards
