You could always do away with those pesky clips and do what BSA and Triumph did which was replace them with the crushable spacer BSA 68-5134 or Triumph 97-2643. It was introduced to do away with the shimming often needed under the circlip to stop the upper bush clacking up and down when on the road and is a lot easier to fit. I have used these in my A10 SF.
Now that sounds like a good idea, I shall investigate.
