NOS primary Cover

Post by JoshJ »

Had a bit of a win,

Picked up this primary outer cover that was advertised as NOS, was a bit dubious however it arrived today and looks to be as new... :)

I might be wrong, but that primary cover looks to me like one for a KH which has a larger dome for the shock absorber. It will fit the single perfectly well though and for some reason the part numbers are the same. The problem arises when you try to fit a single type to a KH.

This is the correct outer cover for my 48 NG350 as listed in the 1947 - 1948 Ariel Singles parts book;

Inner primary Prt No: 5711-36 (E9/600)
Outer primary cover Prt No: 5710-39 (E9/731)

The 1948 - 1949 KH parts book does show the same part number for the outer cover though the inner is different, KH inner Prt No: 5711-48

Certainly looks as though it can accommodate the larger cush drive of the twin. Nev

I found a N.O.S deck for a 1954-59 single some years ago, Ben Hopman has it now.
