Just an update the V5c for the Douglas arrived today, but more importantly the amended V5c for the Sq 4 shouldn't be far behind.

Good news, my new V5c for the Sq 4 arrived today with the correct engine and frame numbers and colour,
was a long wait but well worth it.

Kind regards Colin

I wish I had the same good fortune. After waiting since August and having made several calls, I have finally received a letter from DVLA following on from their previous correspondence advising that my bike is already "on the system". They now advise that they will be issuing a V5c to me, which is the good news, but not until sometime in November, which is not so good. I got all excited as I hoped it might retain its original registration number, no such luck, its a 1950 model but on a plate with a C suffix (1965) so I presume the possibly very nice number it originally had was taken off for another vehicle. Colour is listed incorrectly as maroon and taxation class will no doubt need changing so another couple of rounds with DVLA to get everything right. Has anyone experience of applying for an age related registration from a later number, I think it might be possible but not sure how.

hi Paul if has all ready got a reg number i don't think you will be able to change it for a older reg because it has been
re registered , and a good few years ago when you' re registered you got a reg number of the year it was done or they went to giveing you a Q plate reg number you will have to buy a age related number and try and sell your one

Have a good look at the V5 when it arrives to see when the date of registration was. It is not impossible that it was re-registered when the C suffix registrations were being issued if it was returned to the road then and had no record of the original registration. I used to have a 1954 bike with a G suffix registration for this reason.

Presumably, you have had a lot of interaction with Bennet on this one though so I am probably barking up the wrong tree.

Paul, I have been in contact with Bennett but only to get an up to date dating certificate, which shows the complete bike left the factory in March 1950. The DVLA record shows date of first registration as April 1950 so I am hoping that I could apply for an age related number and get rid of that seventh digit on the plate. Any thoughts?
