Battery to suit Alton generator
‘Morning team!
I’m in the process of fitting a BT-H mag and Alton generator to my VH project. What battery options have people chosen?
Between 8 and 14Ah is the recommended capacity.
Has anyone relocated an AGM battery under the seat or found one that’s physically small enough to fit in a dummy Exide case?

Sorry, I’m really struggling to edit the pics to turn them the right way up!
Re: Battery to suit Alton generator
not done one of those, but got one on my A7ss and a Varta battery fitted into the battery holder without probs and works well.

Cheers Ken,
Do you know the capacity or the part number for the Varta?

1) Don't hold the camera/phone upside down when you take the pic (seriously).bruno.crossley wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 9:48 am Sorry, I’m really struggling to edit the pics to turn them the right way up!
2) I find that by examining the images in an image viewer, changing the orientation and re-saving, and then uploading the re-orientated image file everything displays the right way up (as per below). SG

Cheers Simon,
I’d had a go at editing and re-saving, but obviously not correctly. I’ll ask a grandson to show me how!

Re: Battery to suit Alton generator
hi Bruno ;
this is what i have in my NH repro rubber battery box TAYNA ES13-6 , its 6v 13ah .
it takes up the whole of the inside of the box , the lid goes on but you dont want any wires on top of battery or the lid will be pushed up too much , so come out the side with the wires ..
the battery terminals are spade type and what i did was to buy some 90 degree cable terminals with clear insulation boots on them and cut a bit off them so the terminals were shorter where the wire is fixed and then soldered the wire on , so when the terminals are pushed onto the battery terminals they dont stick out and the wires are as flush as possible to the battery .
i left bike over the last winter and it didnt even need charging up again when i ran it up and rode it again this year .
i am using an AO services voltage regulator and it hardly draws any residual current , in fact when i measured it i couldnt get a reading using my digital meter and i had to use an old analogue meter which went down low enough , it was it was 0.15ma .
