Put an insulating gasket in - I've used 3mm phenolic (there's no room for anything thicker) and recorded 40-70°C temperature drops across it.
You might need to extend the carburettor mounting studs.

Thanks a lot for your comments, I will certainly install one. I bought new studs from ACME, and they were a bit on the long side, that’s really made me wonder if there should be a isolating gasket, Thanks for the help…

You can run without an insulating spacer but I always fit one to my Square Fours. Space is particularly tight on the iron engined ones if the head or rocker box has been skimmed.
