There are also 10 unrestored SQ4 in the same auction from an early 1939 plunger 4G to 1958 MKII. Most are matching number bikes but the auctioneers, as usual, are a bit confused over what an engine, frame and casting number is!

Someone has ground the face nearly flat, with the front edge now nearly a knife edge. As a result, the rocker geometry is incorrect, putting a lot of side thrust on the valve guide.

However, it's nothing that Stellite and a grinding jig can't fix.

Vincent - 8 of the 10 SQ4 being auctioned by Silverstone Auctions have matching numbers. If you are asking about Reg's bikes, most are not matching.
