Differences between 1949 KH and KG models

Post by acattivelli »

Hello!

I own a 1949 Ariel twin motorcycle, and I am not sure if it is a KH or KG model. Can anyone tell me the differences between these models?

I attach a picture of my Ariel (with a non original carburetor mounted).

Any help will be appreciated!

The differences vary over the years and is further complicated by the original customer being able to order non standard parts, so it is possible to have a mixture of the 2. The only way to be sure is to get a dating certificate that will tell you the model or just send me the numbers and I will look it up.

The main and usual differences are KH/KG - red/black, 20"/19" front wheel, carb size, polished inlet port/as cast, 'C' section mudguards/valanced mudguards. For singles can be added steel/cast iron crank, single port/twin port, high level pipes/low level pipes. These last 2 varied over the years
