As the OP has a ‘54 VH (ditto) here is a photo of mine wearing Heidenau K34s. They are modern rubber with a classic tread pattern – hopefully the best of both worlds. I only have about 200 miles on them so far, so can say nothing about wear, but they seem to grip well in both the dry and the wet. They are a different profile to the RR MkII, which I have on my other bikes. The Roadriders have a very even radius to the profile and the K34s are a bit more ‘pointy’ making the bike appear to drop into curves a bit quicker. The K34s pattern also has radial grooves so I’m expecting them to be a bit more skittish on linear grooves in the road surface, tar streaks etc. I am a big fan of the RRs, but to my eye they are a rather modern looking tyre for a near 70 year old machine…

Avon Roadriders - as fitted to all of my bikes because I like them to handle.
