con rod assembly oil

I bought some rods from the club a while ago but did not receive any of the oil .for the reassembly.
I have been in contact with Iron horse and they only supply it with new Rods they sell
The RODS i bought were oversize and were the last ones left , i purchased these as nobody knew when the next batch was going to be made .
we have eventually got round to reassembling the engine after Covid and a stroke from my friend who has been rebuilding it .
Has any one got any please

This is for the bolts, I think. I think it is snake oil, use some thin oil or if you want the proper stuff, ARP grease is available. Like JB I use Graphogen for assembly of running components.

for engine assembly ive allways used stp oil treatment which is a very thick oil , it is about sae 320 grade , just dab your finger in it and smear or blob it on to bearing and metal surfaces you are assembling that need lubing .

pour it onto valve train parts and cam etc .

you can buy all sorts of assembly lubes though if you want to use one of those , ie lucas engine assembly lube .

hi i have used it but i find the problems with using STP ect it does not let the parts bed in, like the Graphogen , so if you are going to use it , mix it with a very little bit of engine oil

Better to NOT have oil under the slipper bearing at all. I usually PRIME all my new engines prior to start with the oil the engine will run. Camshaft and followers are a special case. Spray with a molybdenum coat.. Dip pistons in oil before inserting in the bores and put a coffee cup of oil in the crankcase to aw time for the normal oil flow to stabilise. . Allow room in the oil tank for the excess oil to return without overflowing. A tiny amount of 2 stroke oil in the fuel wont do any damage either for a new motor.. Nev
