Re: vintage photos of Ariel for pleasure
Thanks for the pictures Karol.
I particularly like the one of the Square 4 with the registration FOB 384. This is a Birmingham
registration and I was told the location was the works at Selly Oak. The blackout mask suggests
wartime and of interest is the siamese exhaust system and the centre stand.
I am sure there is at least one other photo of this bike with a sidecar and on the front cover of
The Green 'Un with Howard Davies in the saddle.

The photo of FOB 384 appears in the Bacon book, unfortunately he doesn't credit any of the photos.

Dealership 'Piet van Wijngaarden' in my home town Rotterdam.
The railway arches escaped the 14th of May 1940 bombs and are still there.
Not so glamorous anymore..
second from the left a Ariel ?

A picture of my grandfather on the right hand side. I assume the rider is also the owner, Mr E Rowles. I have no idea what the manufacturer or model of the bike is but I assume it is an early 1920's machine.
