Square 4 carburetor replacement
I am always looking for better performance,my Mark ll came with an Amal carb which after tuning motorcycles for many years fell a little short of my expectations.Since owning a V Twin performance shop I have an abundance of used 38 mm Keihin butterfly carburetors.Decided to upgrade and replace the Amal.Note this is circa 1995 vintage, has an accelerator pump and all the jets you could imagine available today. These were used on 1000,1200 and 1340 cc engines.I did have to modify the intake manifold to accept the Keihin. What a difference!Questions, coments?

Re: Square 4 carburetor replacement
uhhh forward ???.No pun intended. We have an in house dyno which will report air fuel ratios.I will post results when we are finished with my digital engine control distributor. This gives precise total control over all RPM and load conditions. As close as you can get to fuel injected performance.New life for a 65 year old girl.

As you "have an abundance of used 38 mm Keihin butterfly carburettors" how about offering upgrade kits to club members
It will be very interesting to see what you get on the dyno. Back in the early '70s my Square Four seemed to out-perform most things but I suspect nowadays they feel underpowered.
However, back then I was a 23-year-old who ragged it at 90+, today's owners are probably far more cautious with their 'investment' .
Bring it on.
Bob.

+1 for an update kit for me!
Will the Keihin fit in place of the Solex, or is it too big?

Re: Square 4 carburetor replacement
It's a bit big in the throat but the pumper should overcome that. Single carb FOURS don't need a big carburetter but they do need a butterfly type throttle action.. It runs 2 throttle cables. One for closing, A good set up. Trouble free unit. Nev
