I love all the history and info on the Bike. I haven’t even begun the process of putting it in my name yet. I have taken an image of the V5 that was given to me. It might give even more info. At this stage I have to assume that no one wants it from the forum so will do the eBay listing on Thursday. I hope I’ve done the right thing and given it enough time. Is there anything else I should do or need to do.

Hi Richard. I only have the page I have shown and the slip that I return. Perhaps I should just send it off and have it in my name. I thought someone on the site would want it and it would save having to do it twice. It might be the time of the year in terms of purchasing bikes like this as it can’t be the price as I had no set price. As it looks like I have to put it on eBay then I better send it away and get it in my name.

No Problem. I will update once I receive one. However it will be on eBay by then and hopefully with a new owner. My only other option is to keep it until the summer when perhaps people are more interested in it.

Just to chip in here, to give the guy an idea of the value. No doubt this may be bad news but the bike would in my opinion might be worth £3500 insurance value. In the cold reality of selling the bike in the winter, its more likely to be around £2250 to a member of the general public, due to the many variables and condition. This is assuming it runs spot on.
One of the biggest issues, are the condition of the crank seals and carburetor. If they are needing replacement, then the bike could be worth a lot less, nearer £1850. I've seen some sell for £1500 recently, in the condition you are presenting yours.
Dependent on the quality and type of spares available, add approx, (guessing a box worth's value), £250. Best to sell spares with bike if you can, otherwise you will be left with parts, that will takes ages to be sold, if ever! Parts for this bike are surprisingly good value for money at the moment.

If you want a higher price, list it in a specialist auction at a big classic bike show, (Not e bay) DURING THE SUMMER, where a buyer wanting a relic from his youth, who does not worry about originality, may buy it. Usually as a man cave ornament! Problem here is, sales commission of 15% plus vat to pay by seller, so this might deduct £500 ish, from the final hammer price.

I purchased one from a club member last Sept which was fully rebuilt 2000 miles ago, including engine and a host of spares for £3k. The engine had been recently rebuilt properly and crank restored, with new carb, wheel rims, spokes, electronic ignition, etc. body painted and looking quite reasonable.
I know I paid too much for it but I knew the builder and trusted his ability to get it right, which he did.

Its a hard fact of life, these bikes are Marmite bikes, and this does affect the value, unless you are lucky!
No doubt there will be others with their view on the value, perhaps they could respond to your request, so you are able to get a more global idea on the bikes true value.
