That carb body is the later one modified to suit the earlier jet block (with 4 holes) Unless the idle set up has also been modified it may not work well. The idle mixture needle should not be blocked of to the air. Nev

The "Casting" you have can be machined to both types of Jet block. Remove the idle mixture screw (the one with the spring) and see if the hole it seats on goes right through to the outside air. To be sure get an original early carb body and check how the idle passage works. The earlier types are not good with air cleaners but they are still of some benefit.The later ones are designed for them. (more dustproof). Nev
