pads are a good idea. Ariel used it already in 1927 to secure the screws in the rear wheel

Cheers lads, I should have used some way of locking those screws. I've an idea, why don't I put two holes through for the wire 90 degrees apart. They might then line up easier

Hello Karol, do you make those? and do they have the same dimensions as the clutch centre ones ?

That was actually a stupid idea, the flats are not 90 degrees apart :)

I only have insurance for the 1927 wheel. balance from the renovation. I thought you might be interested. I haven't gotten around to refurbishing these younger Ariels yet. I am currently anchored in 1931-32

You can make the two-hole+tabs by cutting up the originals (also works with originals that are otherwise life-expired).

I've done it,,, not pretty though.
I believe your conspiracy theory Vincent, first screw lined up badly so I took it out and tried a different hole, that worked, the rest gave up and lined up good :D

Hi Steve

All of the screws bar the ones at 06:00 and 02:00 are 'anti locked'. this means that the screw can unwind to the limit of the wire allowing fretting at the joint.

Check out the locking info I linked to earlier.

To be honest, a new set of tabs correctly installed would be much better.

Regards Mick
