Re: Ariel Riding and Fixing 2023
The pre crossflow Ford engine was marinised and marketed by Watermota as the "Sea Wolf", "Sea Otter" and "Sea Tiger" usually fitted in Freeman cruisers. They also converted the crossflow engine (with Ford's approval) to diesel and called it the Sea Panther, almost unheard of now and quite rare but I did acquire one last year which sold very quickly.

Amazing how your able to get so much info from that rusted hulk.
I picked up my 500 barrel that was re-bored to suit a new piston. Nice quick job done by OCS in Winchester. Cost £84.00

Shes back together with a temporary tank pinched from my Huntmaster whilst I get the stainless exhaust fitted.
My VH tank has a hole behind the tank rubber so I'm getting it reclined.
.
For internet I've a different way of preventing my tappet adjuster caps from falling off.

Took a ride out today with Andy and his trusty Sunbeam.
Did around 100 miles on the new piston, all seemed fine today until a rather hard thumping sound could be felt especially under load. Tightening down the barrel nuts on to the crankcase fixed it

Re: Ariel Riding and Fixing 2023
Took a spin out to see John Hulme in Andover today, 150 miles now so far on the new piston,,
all seems ok.
I know it's a bit late but I checked the main jet size which worked just fine on the old piston. It was a 190, should actually be a 200 so swapped it whilst I was with Andy on Sunday. Now using some sort of logic if 200 worked good which it did could I put in a 220 that I had at home. This i did and it failed miserably. Wouldn't run at all so decided to swap back to the 200 but upon closer inspection the 220 was blocked Anyway it's running ok on the 220. This should keep things a touch cooler as my trip up to Dent next week will have my caravan on tow
