Are you thinking of ‘Nikasil plating’ as found in BMW cylinders ?
It’s not a thick coating so wouldn’t be good for building up a bore. Was it a spray welding process you used ?

hi Bob the BDA cosworth engine block comes nikasil plated new, and when the bore was worn i sent back to cosworth and they did it back to standard i think they spray welded it like we do to crankshafts, not sure if it was done at cosworth or sent over to Holbay Engineering who done a lot of design and development work for them , and their own engines ( a new engine block today i think is about 10 grand ) if you can find one

I found a shop that will push the old liner out, measure as pr Westwood requirements
A friend of mine with his Ducati single racers he also pins his liners in.

It will be interesting to see just how easily or otherwise the liner comes out.
When I had one linered some 20 years ago the liner had to be machined out
in the end.
