I am new to Ariel and recently bought 2 Arrows one was a mistake bought in several boxes and sold as a Sports Arrow but soon found it had a Leader engine and frame and other pats a mix of arrow and leader. I managed to get some refund and have now bought a Arrow sports all genuine numbers and V5 but in need of a strip and repaint. It’s a 1961 and appears to have had little use and runs. The main reason for the post is I would like to buy a bike stand to make life easier than working on my knees, as it does not have a frame like most bikes can anyone recommend a stand/lift that works with these bikes?

Use a hydraulic bench also available with a hand cranked platform. I wouldn't be without mine although I have done plenty of repairs 'in the field' and most recently a bus shelter without one!

Is this the type you roll the bike on and it just lifts it on the wheels. So if it is on the centre stand which is part of the engine i then take of the rear, wheel, mudguard and swinging arm. Does that sound right?

hi there is lots of types of lifts if you have got room for a full lift that the back end of the lift comes off so you can remove the wheel etc, or you can get one that lifts it under the engine have a good look on Ebay there lots of them on it and different types and it will help you find the one you need

I guess some of the table lifts don't work too well with a rear stand?

hi when i have got one on the table lift with a rear stand and i need to remove the front or rear wheel i use a little lift under the frame and engine that i put under it when the bike is on the table lift , or i use it on the floor if i need to remove a wheel ect

I'm with Johnny on this one, I use a Sealey 365 'X' lift table, (as it 'expands' less when lowering) and a small scissors lift for additional support when removing wheels / stands. Not the cheapest option but more versatile.
Shop around, the price variation is staggering.

did a couple of mods to it by adding a different front wheel chock with tie downs that i bolted onto the table at front , the original wheel clamp isnt up to much really .
i also added a couple of extra ring bolts along the sides of the ramp to use for tie down points .

i would also say put the ramp on top of a piece of old carpet so it doesnt move on a concrete floor when you push bike on and put it on main stand etc , all the mods etc were a tip from my mate mike [foxy] who also has a leader and other ariels .

i bought a spare seal kit for the ram too but cant find the link to the seller right now .

Modified with lifting eyes at each corner for tie down straps. Tie down straps always slide better through stainless eyes.
