If you have some assorted sizes of heatshrink tubing, a useful addition is to use some smaller tubing to secure the throttle stop ferrule to the cable. Should the cable break, then the ferrule should be secured for reuse when fitting a new cable, especially useful for a roadside repair!

I gave the bike a brisk test run this morning, and got the poor old thing good and hot in traffic, there is no sign of that annoying oil-leak from the speedo cable, Whoopee! and thanks for the forum help.
