Afternoon….
I did search for this topic cos I’m sure it’s been discussed many times.
On my FH, when dismantling it, there was no gasket, but the gasket set from Drags contains one that should go on the primary crank side between the crank and primary cases.
Should there be one or was that some A10 engine hangover that Ariel dispensed with?
And….does the clutch cable route around the right side headstock, to then run under the tank and …..to the left of the carb, swooping under it towards the gearbox? Nearest ideas please!
That’s it for now. You know there’ll be more soon!!!

Re: Gasket between crankcase and primary chaincase
I've never used a gasket there, Ariel or BSA but I do use sealant.
My preferred clutch cable route is down the front downtube and
along the top of the primary chaincase. This avoids a tight bend
where the cable turns down and into the gearbox.
I make my cables using a lined outer and the result is a nice light
clutch action.

Re: Gasket between crankcase and primary chaincase
Hi Martin
I used the gasket between the crank and inner primary cases in conjunction with Wellseal. As for the clutch cable routing, mine is as per Will's above - I too make my own cables and can vouch for Venhill's teflon lined outers
