New member with a 45 WNG build
Hello,
I am new to the forum and to Ariel motorcycles, but have owned and built a number of 50's and 60's British twins and singles. I have always wanted to own a war department bike!
I have just acquired a frame and forks along with a number of boxes of parts which belong to WNG bikes which loosely form a project bike. Once I have taken stock of what I have I will be able to start building, finding and making some of the missing parts.
I am very much looking forward to the challenge and to hopefully bring back from a forgotten corner a close representation of a war department vehicle with the help of the forum and members.
The frame is unfortunately not specified in the register as it seems to be a very late 45 bike, most probably shipped abroad and the engine is from around late 42 early 43. I have a gearbox which has been painted so hopefully once stripped will be able to locate a serial number to date it.
I have started the membership process, so look forward to my first delivery of the club magazine!
Many thanks in advance for the assistance I am sure you and the club will be able to provide!
Best regards
Adam

Thank you for the welcome!
I am in ely, Cambridgeshire, but thank you for the offer I may well need to visit a complete bike at some point.
If I can figure out how to post a picture I will shortly.

Re tubed forks, but need some work as the friction surface is very pitted on the fork blade. Plan to weld to build it up then machine flat again, not sure why it wasn't done during re tube as the bare fitting could have been easily turned on a lathe once built up.
