New JP piston Rings, usable or Not?

I bought a new .060 piston set from JP and wondering if it is still worth replacing ring set as was common in the past.
I had found posts from 2004 stating the JP ring sets were garbage but it's 18 years later so not sure if all still holds true...Any advice would be appreciated..
