Wanted Brown and Barlow Carb
Hi all,
I am searching for a Brown and Barlow carb for my 1928 model A Ariel. It is fitted with magdyno and electric headlight, so it has to be a long inlet type to clear the magdyno. Thank you in advance for any help with this.
Regards Andrew

Re: Wanted Brown and Barlow Carb
Andrew and Andy I would appreciate the engine/frame and gearbox numbers for the club's register, we only have 5 confirmed model A's with another 4 that could be B's. Sorry can't help with a carb but my B goes better and is easier to use with the later Amal that it has fitted.

Have you got my A on the list Roger? Or were you only referring to 1928 bikes?Roger Gwynn wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 3:11 pm Andrew and Andy I would appreciate the engine/frame and gearbox numbers for the club's register, we only have 5 confirmed model A's with another 4 that could be B's. Re: Wanted Brown and Barlow Carb
Hi guys,
Here are some photos of my 28 project. A lot of work ahead, most of it is there. The wheels are wrong, they are from a early 30s Ariel . Incorrect carb came with a pile of parts. I have what I think is the correct magdyno (in pieces) here are some photos of the frame number, engine number and gearbox.
Andy H looks like you have a lot of it as well. I would like to thank you all for any help you can provide as I am new to Ariels. I have restored Ducatis and 60s Harleys before but not a British bike.

Re: Wanted Brown and Barlow Carb
Hi Andrew, thanks for the numbers. They are the original engine and frame for a model A despatched to Australasia in June 1928. The original gearbox was A 3759.
Simon, the only bike of yours on the register is a 1942 W/NG Italian mash up. Any bike details gratefully received, best sent to my email rather than cluttering up the forum I should think.

Do you want details of all the Ariels any of us own? I was under the impression that the AOMCC no longer wanted to have that information.

Re: Wanted Brown and Barlow Carb
I have been intending to write an article or 2 about the register but got a bit bogged down with other things, like building bikes. The register started a long long time ago when people didn't know much about the bikes and the internet hadn't been invented, there wasn't a reliable engine and frame list etc. It really became dormant when Ralph died. I decided that the information that the register contained could still be useful although in a different way to the original purpose so over a period of a year I entered all the records on a spread sheet from which I was able to provide figures for survival rates and history of particular machines. I am happy to receive details of machines, in return I will reply with whatever info I have on those bikes however if I am inundated there may be a delay! I record date of information, name, town or postcode, eng/frame/gearbox numbers, registration. If owners have any history of previous owner's, with or without dates I can add that as well, ideally dates that the bike was acquired as well.
There are now over 16,000 records of 11,000 bikes in the 1926-58 register with new machines being added all the time, like Andrew's 1928. I would love more than the existing 258 records in the 1910-25 register, see Cheval!
Please send any info to my email rather than posting on the forum but I will keep the forum up to date. membership@arielownersmcc.com
