1928 Model A
1928 Model A
Hi there,
Recently acquired skeletal remains exhumed in central Victoria, Australia.
I’m in no tearing hurry to get this one on the road but in a very short time i have been very fortunate to meet up (online) with new to me Black Arielists all over the world who have helped me locate and have already provided most of the primary missing bits. A big thank you to those members.
Anyway….people have started with less i’m sure…..

Re: 1928 Model B
What a find ! and it does look promising !
I bought mudguards from Motoreno, these man have a '28 Ariel themselves so know how the guards look.
You find a link to them on Karol's website.
And yes, Karol is your one stop Black Ariel parts source !
AOMCC Black Ariel parts are now with the Spares Coordinator but waiting for a person to take on the job of spares organizer (correct me if this info is dated please!)
I know of a '28 gearbox + clutch for sale in europe, send me a PM if interested. These are getting difficult to find around here.
If you want a tracing from the front engine plates send me a PM also. ( but I think Karol has them ready to paint)
keeps us informed ! it's going to be lots of fun and you end up with a very special motorcycle as a bonus

Re: 1928 Model B
Hi Michael, the engine number is from a model A, despatched to Australasia in July 1928. Is your frame W 13659?

Ok so that means the bike should have a Sturmey Archer box and not a Burman Q?

Re: 1928 Model B (Edit Model A it seems now)
The 1928 models all used Burman, 1929 the A had a Sturmey and 1930 the A and E used Sturmey, how the mighty are fallen.

Greetings Rodger, this is my 28 as I got it with a sturmey box in,as you can see it had laid up resting for a long time before it came back to life.

Re: 1928 Model B (Edit Model A it seems now)
Just looked in the 1928 catalogue again, which I did a couple of days ago, before decreeing that Sturmeys were not fitted to 1928 models, to see a Model A with a Sturmey box, I must be going mad or blind, probably both.
