Simon & All,
Thank you for the inputs. I will buy as Simon has suggested and see how that goes. I was afraid of forgetting the closed valve and no oil.
Meantime I will adopt Richard Thomason's tactic.
Regards
John

I may have been unlucky but the last 3 or 4 Ariel's I have worked on all
wet slumped all had loose as in the screws that hold it on oil pumps
a new gasket and tight screws and they have been fine, worth a look.

i had one of those on my KH, it did not stop the sump from filling up, took a lot longer and it restricted the oil flow, so i binned it and bought a manual valve with a cut out linked to the mag, much better oil flow and no wet sumping, bought a new oil pump from a firm in Canada they had 2 brand new old stock pumps, not cheap but that did not help with the wet sumping, think they still have one left.

only just seen this , did not get a notification . fitted it in to the flow line, bought if from faked hope that spelt correct, works well , if you make the first bit of pipe from the tank shortish and of something bendable it fits ok and can be got at with a gloved hand.
