Nice to see one person using the designated parking correctly - oh, you need to put it up otherwise it's definitely only a trailer! :D

A very nice trip out yesterday to meet up with Andrew and his 54 VH for a ride to Combe Gibbet

The eerie shadow of the gibbet.
From Wikipedia
History

It was erected in 1676 for the purpose of gibbeting the bodies of George Broomham and Dorothy Newman and has only ever been used for them. The gibbet was placed in such a prominent location as a warning, to deter others from committing crimes.[5]

Broomham and Newman were having an affair and were hanged for murdering Broomham's wife Martha, and their son Robert after they discovered them together on the downs. Unfortunately for the lovers, the murder was witnessed by "Mad Thomas", who managed to convey what he had seen to the authorities. The pair were hanged in Winchester before being gibbeted at Combe.[5][6][7][8]

After the 1676 gibbet rotted, a total of 7 replica gibbets have stood in its place, the most recent having been erected in 1992.

Agnes and myself didn't have it all our own way, around Andover Agnes started to feel unwell with a sort of stutter, looking down I could see her problem. We had lost the small nut holding on the HT cable to the spark plug, A very kind young man with his van came over to help and even offed us a rescue home, he wondered if the plastic tie would last the journey. It did but our troubles weren't over yet. That stutter she had was nothing to do with the HT lead floating in fresh air on top of the spark plug :D we'd run out of petrol. £10 quids worth of isn't much. I pushed Agnes into a car park right next to a small glass bottle left conveniently behind by someone on the kerb. Two bottles worth of petrol later and we were off.

So me lad, into the Hampshire Highlands.
Up there, there are hares as big as small deer. Chase them and they can out run your old beast across them rough fields! They go like trains. You stood awhile on Inkpen Long Barrow and returned, eh? The Old Folk must have been asleep. If you'd gone over to Walbury Hill Fort and took a short walk into the Trig Point and stood on a short ladder, the top of your head would have been at 1000ft above sea level. It's the highest point in SE England.
