 We will be migrating to our new home on arielownersmcc.com this weekend coming - sept 4/5th.

We're not expecting issues, but you know how it is.

There will be a redirect in due course

Forum (and website) migration completed.
The forum software has been upgraded by several versions - there are probably some detail differences but we're not sure yet how many (!) are useful to the users
There's a re-direct in place for the main site, everything going to www.arielownersmcc.co.uk should be getting pushed to www.arielownersmcc.com (except for the forum, at the moment anyway).
The software that runs the back-end for most of the main web site has also been upgraded. The testing that's been done hasn't thrown up any issues, we hope we did enough.
The most obvious improvement (hopefully) is that things are slightly quicker.

I just made a mistake and missed out the 'mcc' bit of our new site.

That took me to a different site. Does anybody know whether that is pitfall set up for the unwary, or something which has been around for a while and is not untoward?

A quick look suggests it was registered on the 16th September this year.

What you see there at the moment is the usual fluff service providers put there
until some real content is added.

Looks like a cheeky bit of "cyber-squatting".
You basically take out the ownership of a domain, which you think someone else might want, chuck some basic html and hope they are desparate enough to pay you over the odds for it.

Nobody owns domains, as such: they are "rented out" and then you pay a provider (or DIY) to host content to that domain. There are some safeguards to ensure that nobody can jump on it immediately, when your "rent is due" etc. If it lapses, for long enough, then someone else can take it.
I think there have been cases where cyber-squatters were forced to give up domains, when it was pretty obvious what they were doing.

I don't think we're interested enough, in this instance, to pay for "arielowners"
