Any ideas on the above as i am 6ft 2 and need to raise and move seat towards the rear mud gaurd. I also would change the seat for a duel one to solve my riding possition problem.

I have moved my saddle upwards and rearwards to great effect and I am vertically challenged. You will have to make your own brackets and possibly longer studs. Moving too far back and or not high enough and the daddle will hit the mudguard, which does nothing for the spine. Small alterations make a large difference, too far and it can look silly! I don't know how people of even average stature cope on the early rigid frames let alone taller people.

Don't forget that there is quite a lot of adjustment on the footrests which can make
a big difference to the riding position.

A dual seat on a rigid frame gives no protection from road shocks - most
uncomfortable.

1936 is early for a W/NG, some pictures would be interesting.

Mike, if you include the engine and frame numbers the main components of the bike can be positively identified.

Hello Mike, take a look at my W/VH in the for sale section. I have raised and put the Seat a few centimeters to the rear. It also helps if the lower bridge part under the Seat has a loop in it to clear the guard . not visible in the pic. Succes

Thanks all for the advice, especially Will advising not to put an unsprung duel seat on the bikr.
I have the cofidence that modifications will allow me to ride it comfortably with out making the bike look strange.

I am awaiting delivery and will post pictures and numbers when recieved. :

I have just had the bike delivered. My mistake the machine was requisitioned in 1939 by the war office so not a W/350 , it came with a letter stating that a Mr Yeatman purchased it new
for £56. 10 s and 6 pence. (Sounds like something from a Dads Army episode)
I am at present making brackets to raise and push seat to the rear, engine sounds fine but carb leaks / floods ? quite badly any suggestions please.

That looks very nice indeed.

If it's been standing for any time at all there could be all sorts of horrors
lurking in the float bowl causing the flooding.

My first move would be to take the float bowl off and investigate.

You may find what follows useful. Remove the petrol pipe and undo the nut
at the bottom of the carb. Don't lose the washers and look into the bottom
of the nut to see just how much rubbish there is in there. If there's any it will be
a good idea to clean out the main jet while you can.

Assuming it's a bottom feed float bowl, The top of the float bowl should unscrew once
the locking bolt is loosened. The float should be securely clipped to the needle.
Unclip it and pull it off while catching the needle. Clean it all out and, as they say in the
manual: 'Assembly is the reverse of dismantling'.

A photo of the other side of the bike will be interesting.
