The part on my 1951 NH was exactly the same. I bought a replacement made in brass some time ago at a annual rally auto jumble.
Works fine now.

Hi Klaus,

A bit of a late reaction to this topic....
A brass one ? did someone make a replacement or is that a 'Ariel factory' one ?
I only know of the Dinky Toy ones and the (earlier) steel ones that are rivited to the brakeplate.

Just reassembling my brakes and find my brake wedge holders are a myriad of cracks that look like they are about to go the same way as John's.
Draganfly no longer appear to do replacement brass ones - they only list "used" ones - and they are not in stock.
Does anyone have one or two they might be happy to part with - or know where I might get them?
I'm also looking for a brake cam (4115-46), if anyone can help.

Certainly an important item from a safety point of view. The material they are made of Diemetal . is unreliable when it's old.. Might be able to get them machined out of an alloy billet if a quantity needed. Time to act.? Nev

Might be worth phoning Drags to see what the situation is with these. Since they've reworked the web site they might have lost some of the listings (I've found a couple of issues in the past).
If, as Nev suggests, it is 'time to act' on these, I'd have thought that Drags would still have the means of getting more brass ones made up. Possibly another candidate for a joint venture with the club as with the singles rocker boxes? (Also the current AOMCC membership sec would probably be in a very good position to know about the sourcing for the brass replacements.)
James, are you in the AOMCC?

Castings will cost more but CNC'd steel, iron, brass or alloy needs more numbers to justify the programme. You'd need the studs too from a practical viewpoint You could zinc plate the steel for corrosion and looks. You should probably support Drags if possible but there's the need regardless of who does it. They are an ARIEL only product and late 30's on. .Nev

Costing - Nev, the cheapest/easiest way is to see if it can still be set up as a repeat order....
