Just the battle with DVLA now ....

I took mine along on a trailer, last week, to be told that they don't process paperwork and do inspections at the same time.
I have to take it back again in THREE weeks for its 30 second appointment to examine its frame number.

It might after all be a "phantom bike"; one that has already successfully fooled both Paul and the MOT man....

twats....

.. anyone would think they don't want old bikes on the road .....

Dad told me you had had some trouble John.

Interestingly I went in to my local DVLA office today (Nottingham), armed with some photos of the bike and they told me they did not process the number on the enquiry desk, and they would take all of my information, charge me the £55 and I could expect my tax disc, dating certificate, a new mot with the reg number on it and the certificate to make up plates within the next 3-4 working days. No mention of having to come back for an inspection.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that some jobsworth in the back office doesn't get involved and make me take it in!

I'll keep you updated, maybe its luck of the draw?

Since I have had nothing through the post from the dvla I called them today, and the lady said my application was processed 2 days after I went in with the forms ( and photos ) and she gave me the registration number over the phone.

Maybe I lucked out this time!

Maybe the answer is to go to the Nottingham office! I hear it is being closed down so perhaps none of them can be bothered!

Very nice Rob, makes mine look shabby!
What paint/colour did you use? I seem to be settling for RAL3007.
I thought the Local Vehicle Licensing Offices were all threatened with the closure axe, Lord only knows how we'll all manage if that comes to pass. Did you know that as they are an "Agency" they are accountable to no-one!
Cheers, Robin.

Quick update - I got the reg and V5C came through the post Monday! No inspection required. When I went to the DVLA office I took high quality large photos with me and left them with them. I think this was what made me able to get through with no issues.

Obviously since then I have only managed to get round the block when the head gasket started to blow and then I sheared my exhaust rocker shaft after reassembling, so having the bike fully road legal doesn't seem to be much use right now!
