Hi Rob,
it's a nice looking bike. You'd think something so simple as a VH would be dead easy...
Good luck with it. I'm sure it will be great to ride after that amount of time.

Re: '57 VH, Four and a half years later...
I've done close to 4000 miles since first putting the bike back on the road. Since then I have effectively changed the engine, which is now basically an hs with an iron barrel. I have done 2000 miles since the rebore, putting a 9:1 piston in it, which massively improved the performance.
I have managed 500 miles on it so far this year, although that has only been in the last three weeks. This included 350 miles last weekend around Lincolnshire on the dambusters run. About 220 miles of that was done two up, with luggage. It was remarked by the modern bike riders (I was the only classic bike on the Sunday), how the hell I was keeping up!
Last winter the job was to repair and paint a '56 tank acquired from the fastest and cheapest supplier I have in the world (thanks dad), having sold my '57 tank to Dave Owen, so he could get a bike on the road (I always intended on getting the earlier tank, I prefer the look)
Unfortunately I have managed to strip a thread on the exhaust rocker box, so I will not be able to use the bike until I have managed to repair that.
I'm looking forward to a good summer of riding!

Looking good Dave, did you have the knee grips and surrounds? If not I'll have to dig them out for you.
