Chaps
I mentioned beforehand that the VB wasn't charging.
I have since charged the battery fully - now 13V.
Cleaned the commutator thoroughly.
Checked all connections and wires inside the dynamo.
Still no increase in voltage across the battery when running/ammeter needle fails to swing to right.
It has been laid up for well over a year so perhaps the dynamo needs a flash.
A basic procedure would be most appreciated!
Many thanks
Mark

First post in the electrics section http://forum.arielownersmcc.com/viewt ... ?f=8&t=189 polorisation section is what you need
NB if the battery is fully charged it may not show a charge on the ammeter until you turn the lights on.
Cheers

Re: Flashing the dynamo
If you have the old "Mechanical/electrical" control unit fitted it may be worth checking this out, particularly the cut out unit.
Take the cover off and check that the "cut out" contacts are opening and closing.
