Valve lifter on 1956 VH
Hi, I’m rebuilding a 56 VH that was repatriated from the US. Previous owners had numerous strange ideas, it had the kickstart blanked off, the Speedo drive replaced with a cork to mention just a couple! My question - it has no valve lifter.
Not a huge thing in itself but the rocker cover does not have the little lug that the cable stop screws into. Has it been ground off or is there some other version of valve lifter that secures the cable in another way?
Any guidance much appreciated
Mike

Mike,
As far as I'm aware there is only one form of valve lifter and that needs the
little lug and its cable stop.

hi i would just make a new lug for the cable and for the spring to stop against and just weld it on, you can get welding rods that you can use with a blowtorch , which i have used if you can not do it with a tig welder

I think that this is what Mike is looking for. It does have the lug, it's hidden in this picture.

Yes, thanks Roger although for £60 ish I’ll make a lug and weld it on. If anybody could tell me the position of the hole relative to say the base and the lifter hole that’d be really helpful. Also what thread is it, I’m guessing about 5/16 BSCY
