Ariel 4f - Distributor cap

Always read carefully and introduce myself here.
My name is Siegfried and I come from the south of Austria.
Got some Ariels and am currently working on a Square four 4f.

My problem is the distributor cap.
I am currently reworking a distributor cap from the Triumph TR4. Unfortunately a new black cap and not one made of Bakellite.

Is there an alternative to this cap?
Find a cap that can withstand the temperatures. An original would of course be the best.
I would be happy if I could get help from you.

What year 4F? Is it the one which fits on the end of the camshaft or the one which fits on the top of the magneto?

I am not yet a member of the Aomcc.
But I will change that shortly.

@ Paul: It's a 1932 600ccm with the distributor cap on the cylinder head.

The original distributor caps are now extremely rare, to the point that some riders of these machines have been using alternatives for something like 20 years.
I am guessing from your name that you may be based somewhere in Europe, rather than in the UK. There are people in both Germany and the Czech Republic who ride these machines regularly and will be able to help with finding something suitable. So the first step is to join the AOMCC.

Hallo Siegfried,

die einzig gangbare Lösung ist eine alte TR/MG oder ander engl. 4 Cyl.Kappe aus Bakelit. Die findest Du in normaleren Zeiten für kleines Geld auf den Oldtimermärkten. Wie Du schon erkannt hast wird sich die schwarze Kappe verformen.

I have a distributor cap for my 4F and I do not need it for the moment. You can have mine for a while until I need it myself. In the meantime you might be able to find one yourself!
