Luggage Racks

Post by simon.holyfield »

Folks,

I have a notion to make a luggage rack for my SQ4. Was a luggage rack available in 1951, and if so what did it look like?
cheers

Like still in use in Vietnam, a plywood plate with tube support?

I now know that there is one listed as 5631-51, but of course 1951 parts books don't have any pictures!

This is shown on Markus' poster. I guess this is it:

It looks like it is made of sheet, open on the underside. Interesting that this bike has a lifting handle as well as a carrier.

That is my 1953 MKII, I’ve made the rack myself and used a 15 mm square hollow profile for it.

I am making one at the moment, I am copying one off my mate’s bike, witch he tells me is original, and it’s same as the one in the photo. It’s made of ½ dia tube, but not got the middle leg, just front and back

And a very nice Mk2 it is. Would you have any better pictures of the rack, by any chance?
cheers
