Pleasant ride to Salisbury today, Odstock Hospital.

Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on an Ariel 2021
I've kind of always fancied a side valve so for the last few years bits have been acquired. But the prospect of another bike with no room for it was putting me off. Now, My 51VH has been languishing at my workshop unloved for the last few years and realy needs a little TLC. Especially the engine. Why not stick a VB in for a while. At least I can find out if the engine at least work
I've had a bottom end for years. Jim Devereux helped me with a barrel piston and head.
A bit like an old fish fighting predators for many years it has a few broken fins but the bore and piston looked good.

Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on an Ariel 2021
Alan helped with fitting new studs whilst I ground In the valves.
Here it is all fitted in the frame. Didn't realy think enough about the carb. It needed an extension to avoid snagging the magdyno. Alan again came to the rescue and made me one. It was still very tight. The oil tank needed to move backwards a little, luckily there seems to be two locations on the engine frame that it could be bolted too. I just put the oiltank bottom bracket under the big nut that goes through the gearbox.
That won me 10mm exrra space

I wonder how well it will pull a trailer?
I'll give it a decent ride this evening but not too far from home
